Off Our Backs, Inc 41 (2003): 1-4.
The purpose of this article is to let the world know that disabled women in 60 countries are participating
in this strike to press governments and societies to acknowledge that disabled women should be treated equally and fairly.
This item is about working disabled women joining in with the Global Women’s Strike. They are
calling for a world which values all women’s work and every life. They are demanding a decrease in the worldwide military
budget so that society can invest in caring, not killing.
This particular editorial could benefit disabled women who think that there is no hope for their working
situation. It could be an inspiration for disabled women to take action against the injustice that they face in the workplace.
Which also contains statements from disabled women who participated in the strike and their views on how they are treated

"Employment inequality for women with disabilities (Women and Disability)." Off Our Backs, Inc 10 (2003): 1-4.
The purpose of this journal is to focus on the inequalities that disabled women experience in the
workplace. Women with disabilities experience dual discrimination one their physical disability and two their gender. Disabled
women are most likely given the lowest pay, lowest or no status jobs. They work under poor working conditions. Employers will
employee a disabled man before they will a woman, because they feel that a man has a family to take care of.
The possible audience for this work would be major companies that are discriminating against disabled
women and not aware of their actions. This journal will inform them on how discrimination affects these women.
The journal list reasons behind employment inequalities for women with disabilities.
"A feminist standpoint analysis of maternity and maternity leave for women with disabilities." Contemporary Women's Issues
26 .2 (2003): 1-23.
The main purpose for this article is to examine how maternity and maternity leave for women with disabilities
is viewed in an able bodied world. In this article the writer is examining how maternity leave affects not just disabled women
it affects all women, but it’s a double problem for disabled women. Some professional ladies jobs are in jeopardy when
they depart work on maternity leave. They are over looked for promotions, pay increases and retention. Disabled women have
more to deal with, because they are already at a disadvantage due to their physical disabilities; so once they become pregnant
the expectations are even greater.
The audience for this work would be women who are disabled, and pregnant or considering getting pregnant
so that they are aware of the unfairness they may experience in the workplace.
The writer of this journal was against women receiving paid maternity leave until, she became pregnant
then her views on this issue changed. She felt that all women, able bodied and disabled should receive paid maternity leave
to allow them to bond with their newborn babies.
